Halesworth Town Council - CCTV policies, subject access request form, Camera positions and map
Some of you might have seen the announcements from the Town Council about the installation of CCTV in the town centre or noticed the various notices advising of CCTV. For those who are unaware, CCTV has been installed along Bridge Street, the Thoroughfare, the Market Place and the bottom end of London Road. The system has been installed as a deterrent to anti-social and criminal activities and it has already enabled the Police to successfully persecute and obtain a conviction. Additionally, the system has “Automatic Number Plate Recognition”, ANPR.
If you witness something illegal, anti-social or criminal, it should be reported to the Police as it is taking place. If it is serious, it should be reported on 999. However, if it’s not serious and the incident has already taken place, it should be reported on 101. In both situations the Police will give you an incident number, and if appropriate, a crime number. If the incident occurred in an area covered by the CCTV, the Police can review the recording but only if they have the appropriate Crime Number paper work. This is why it is so important that criminal, anti-social and illegal incidents are reported to the Police. Without a Crime Number being allocated, no action can be taken.
The incident can be reported on-line using the following Police website;-

Or if it is a Traffic Regulation Offence, it can be reported to East Suffolk Council on:

parking-enforcement/
The following documents are required to ensure best practice and that the system is used responsibly for the purpose of deterring crime in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations and the Information Commissioner's Office
