The Role of the Council

Although the final decision for all things Planning is East Suffolk Council’s (or higher authorities if contested),Halesworth Town Council has an important advisory role which can make a difference. East Suffolk Council is legally required to inform Halesworth Town Council and seek its views on all local Planning Applications.

The timing of the Town Council’s Planning Committee meetings is determined by the deadlines set by the requirements of the planning process. These meetings are in public and residents who have submitted a planning application or will be affected by one are strongly recommended to attend the Planning Committee meeting at which it will be considered.

Information on the dates of these Planning Committee meetings can be found on the meetings page or home page. If you are unable to attend the meeting please contact East Suffolk Council directly with your comments, quoting the reference number of the application.  It would also be helpful to copy the Town Clerk (clerk@halesworthtowncouncil.org.uk) into any comments you send to the Planning Officer.
